Congratulations India. It has taken some seventy years to know her true identity and shedding of the sham shell of “secularism”, but never too late. After sweeping victory of Modi-BJP in 2024 elections, “Bharat Rashtra” would be officially enshrined in India’s constitution. Practically, opposition’s prospects and standing in the elections will hardly matter. Mood and ethos of Hindus (more than 80%) in India has completely changed. The kindle of Muslim hatred sparked by Modi-BJP of Hindutva has now engulfed the whole nation into a fire. And now it may take decades to make any precipitable change in the current mood, if any.
(Note: BJP requires only 50% popular votes of 80% of its Hindu population in 2024 election. That will make 40% of total popular votes, more than to rule whichever way it wishes. It received 37.4% of total votes in 2019 election with 353 seats, a substantial majority in the parliament. Minority votes don’t matter.)
Indian Muslims’ reaction has overwhelmingly been timid and cowardice to the years of lynching, killing, bulldozing of houses, shops and boycotting of their businesses thus threatening their earnings for daily living. It seems they have resigned to the fate of becoming third-class citizens in a country which was built, enriched and exalted by their forefathers in the annal of its glorified history. (Muslims, due to their foreign Islamic heritage, are third class citizens and are considered potentially disloyal to the State as a People –“traitors” and “termites”. Others like Dalits are second class citizens due to their caste. Christians hardly count, though they have more exposures in press and Western media.
There was a time when Indian Muslims used to look up to Pakistan for implicit and moral support, but those feeling have now completely evaporated. They have now lost any hope from the very people who themselves are enslaved by their own Army. And this is a new reality to country’s Punjabis, who accounts 55% of population. However, it was never a new experience for Bengalis, Balochis, Pathans, Sindhis and Mohajirs, who have suffered at the hands of dominant population and the army.
Indian Muslims’ hopes have dashed of any reaction from rich Muslim countries of UAE and especially, Saudi Arabia – the birth place of Islam and custodian of the holiest place for Muslims: Baitul Haram. They have shown a complete silence despite holding tremendous economic power to teach Modi-Hindutva harsh lessons against the atrocities on Indian Muslims. After all, they constitute more than 25% of India’s source of income through remittances and trade. Other Islamic countries are eunuch which do not matter even in UN votes.
There would hardly be any reaction with teeth from US and European countries due to India’s geo-political-economic importance and a bulwark against China. West knows their own countries, with the titles of being “advanced and civilized democracies” are plagued with extremism and ultra-conservatism. They are paranoid with the Xenophobic instinct of any power that could threaten their hegemony, like China and Russia. And they will use all resources within their means to maintain and enhance such powers rather than caring about what India does to its constitution and people.
Bottom line: India: Going for “Bharat Rashtra”. Revealing her true colour. US and Europe would hardly react other than a few hypocritical diplomatic words. For Russia and China, religion has always been a matter of little concern and is treated purely as a domestic matter. Rest of the world: who cares and do they count any way?
It looks like BJP-Hindutva believe that all astrological stars in heavens are aligned for a Hindu Rashtra for India. Now or never.
